Vogals Approximation method is the best method to find the basic feasible solution of the given Transportation problem , because it gives the minimum cost of the transportation problem.

Vogals Approximation Method is always preferred for the initial basic solution.


➤Algorithm For solving the Transportation problem by Vogals Approximation Method :-

STEP 1. Check the given Transportation problem is Balanced or not, if it is balanced then go for Step 2, but if it is not balanced then make it balanced by making a dummy row or column.

STEP 2. Find out Row difference & Column difference for each and every column & Row.

STEP 3. Select the maximum value among the Row/Column.

STEP 4. Identify the cell for Allocation which has least cost in the row/column.

STEP 5. Allocate the least value by Comparing the demand & cost.

STEP 6. Repeat this process until all the cells completed.
