  CNC Machining Tutorial-13 (Threading --- Short  Method) :-

Before starting this Tutorial let's first discuss about some different terms and codes for a threading program or threading operation:-

G76 :- Short Threading Cycle

Short threading cycle


Mathematical Calculation & Assuming values:-
  • First Cut/Thread should be performed from the multiple of pitch. Here it should be 48.5.
  • P = No. of passes = 08.
  • Chamfer = 0 (for Matric Thread).
  • Thread Angle = 60 degree.
  • Depth of cut (To be assumed or given) = 30.
  • final cut = 0.02.
  • Minor Dia. = 44.6mm.
  • Length of thread = 12.5.
  • Depth of Thread = 919 (in Microns) Should be given or calculated.
  • Depth of first cut = 40mm
  • Pitch = 1.5.

Problem: we have to work on cylindrical block of 52mm length and 50mm diameter to make the workpiece like as shown in the image (i.e. the thread length should be 12mm ) :-
